Genesee County's - Forest Township - Kennel grab
"Burnette" family with a kennel for 40 years and the township is going to confiscate their dogs
I don't have all the details, yet.
These people have showdogs and therapy dogs. There isn't anything wrong with them.
Forest Township says there was a change in the zoning law in 1996 and they have to have a conditional use permit.
I think these people are, at the very least, grandfathered in as far as any changes in the zoning law goes.
Just another "OUTLAW" government at work.

The legal term that holds is "The twp has set a legal precident" by continuing to reissue their license yr after year they are confirming in a slang sense, that you are grand fathered in, But you have to be incompliance with kennel inspection rules, clean, no mud, no barking, no neglect etc.
I know of a case where that specific wording changed the whole ball game and the people won and were re-issued their kennel license faster than you could believe! Of course, If your looking for a free lawyer, good luck, but there is a legal group that you sign up with on the phone, and for $50.00 you join a membership (which includes a phone consultation, AND a letter. The lawyer who answers the phone may not seem interested, and say you have no chance, BUT, remind them that before they took your call you had to pay with credit card over phone and were promised a FREE leter to persons you are sueing. Sooooooooooooooo, you fax them the letter you would like them to type up on their fancy intimidating letterhead, in legal wording, usually from a firm in your area so it looks like you are really going to sue the whole county, twp AND inspector. The lawyer is "bound" to write that letter- and send it to your people, which usually in these small towns, gets the job done because they are fearful for their own personal loss for breaking the law against you, so they give you that license, and you call that legal aid (some name like that, cant remember) and cancel your membership. You get a lot of bang for your fifty bucks. Remember, most all people with jobs of decision making of your affairs are ALWAYS LYING AND OR BLUFFING to intimidate you, which is what USUALLY WORKS,unill they meet some one who takes them to the mat, to end the bull shit. And by the way, the dept of agriculture has no jurisdiction over kennels. They will confirm that them selves if you request a description of their duties involving dog kennels that are not shelters. ask them to fax you that information, (so you have proof if the twp calls them up and they show up which happens sometimes) Be Cleaver, Be smart, BE STRONG WHEN YOU NEED TO BE, whats the alternative people, dead dogs and a sick feeling when you find out later that you could have won your war with out ever actually going to court or leaving your home, just picking up the phone!
